Heroes’ Day Parade, Surabaya, November 10

Celebrated nationally, Heroes’ Day commemorates the 1945 Battle of Surabaya in which Indonesian soldiers fought against Dutch and British troops as part of the struggle for independence. Bekudo Bono Festival 2018, Pelalawan Regency, Riau, November 12–15

This festival promises a unique surfing experience; not on a beach, but on the Kampar River in Riau. Only recently discovered by the international tidal river surfing community, the tidal bores in Kampar, locally known as bono, rush in at speeds of 40kph. FESTIVAL
Banyuwangi Batik Festival, Banyuwangi, November 17

Banyuwangi batik has its own characteristics taken from various kinds of batik throughout the archipelago. Themes such as Gajah Oling, Kangkung Setingkes, Paras Gempal, Kopi Pecah, Gedhegan, Moto Pitik, Sembruk Cacing, Blarah Sempal and Gringsing are some of the 22 motifs that complete the charm of Banyuwangi batik. This time, the Gedhegan motif is the chosen theme of the Banyuwangi Batik Festival (BBF). Held in Blambangan Park, the 6th instalment of the BBF involves the participation of local, national and international designers.
