Buton Sultanate Palace Festival, Baubau, October 12–17

Held every year in Baubau, Buton Island, this event showcases the culture, arts, and attractions of Southeast Sulawesi. The festival, held in conjunction with the City of Baubau, includes an exhibition of heirloom and regional products, Kande-kandea (eating together), various traditional processions, art performances, a rowing boat competition, and the Old Town Cultural Carnival at the Buton Sultanate Palace.


Merapi Run 2019, Yogyakarta, October 20

Starting from the Griya Persada Convention Hotel & Resort, the unique race route sweeps through the countryside at the foot of the most active volcano in Indonesia, Mount Merapi. There are three race categories: 3km (Family Run), 5km, and 10km.


Raja Ampat Maritime Festival, West Papua, October 18–21

This annual festival highlights Raja Ampat’s marine, cultural, and culinary heritage. Based at Waisai Torang Cinta (WTC) Beach in Waisai, visitors can enjoy culinary specialities, dance performances, and various competitions, ranging from beach volleyball to boat decorating, a swimming duathlon, underwater photography, and a panoramic photo contest.


AMF Amsterdam, October 19

Alesso, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, and Tiësto are among the headliners at this huge EDM event, held at Amsterdam’s largest stadium, the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
