Islamic New Year, September 1

A celebration of the arrival of the new year based on the Islamic calendar, the Islamic New Year is an important event for Muslims in Indonesia and throughout the world. Muslims also call the Islamic New Year by the name Muharram. In Indonesia, the Islamic New Year is considered a national holiday, and it is a day that commemorates
the journey of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from the city of Mecca to Medina in 622 CE.


Bintan International Marathon, Riau Islands, September 7–8

This world-class annual competition held at Lagoi Bay, Bintan, in the Riau Islands, includes a 21km half marathon and a 10km race as well as the full 42km marathon. There is also a 3km Family Run race with fun obstacles. The routes take in gorgeous scenery, including beautiful beaches and waterfronts.
