Lake Toba Festival, North Sumatra, December 9–12
This four-day cultural festival, held at the largest volcanic lake in the world, promotes Lake Toba as one of the planet’s amazing natural wonders. The event is enlivened by musical entertainment, arts, craft, culinary exhibitions, various traditional competitions, sports, and tourism seminars. Festival-goers can also visit several natural tourist attractions around Lake Toba, such as Holbung Hill, Paropo Beach, Sipiso Piso Waterfall, and many more.

Superstar DJs Calvin Harris and Martin Garrix are headlining one of Southeast Asia’s biggest dance music festivals. Developing over a decade from a small club affair to a three-day event attracting tens of thousands, this year’s edition also features Skrillex, Disclosure, Zedd, Dash Berlin, and Jonas Blue.
Belitung Triathlon 2019, Tanjung Tinggi, December 15
With a total prize of Rp170 million, this triathlon challenge set amid the gorgeous scenery of a pictureperfect tropical island features a sprint and a standard distance. Sprint participants must swim 750m, ride 20km, and run 5km, compared to the standard 1.5km swim, 40km cycle, and 10km run.

Focusing on sustainability and wellness, this eclectic festival features everything from a mindfulness gong bath to a kava ceremony, and wonderflow yoga to qigong.
