Three Days Away

Start day one by visiting
Gyeongbokgung Palace, where the Joseon dynasty ruled for 200 years, then head out to the top of Bukchon Hanok Village, a traditional Korean village and UNESCO World Heritage site. Refuel around Bukchon with bulgogi (thin, marinated slices of grilled meat) or japchae (stir-fried glass noodles and vegetables), then continue to Insadong-gil, Seoul’s creative art centre. A short walk will take you to impressive Jogyesa Temple and Gwanghwamun Square. Towards evening, stroll along nearby Cheonggyecheon Stream for epic sunset shots.

The next morning, try tasty street foods at Gwangjang Market and browse around Myeongdong shopping district. Be wowed by the ultra-futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, then walk to Ihwa Mural Village to snap some selfies. Continue to N Seoul Tower on top of Namsan Mountain. When the sun goes down, immerse yourself in the exciting Hongdae nightlife.

Round off your last day in Seoul by exploring modern Gangnam district, where you’ll find places such as Seoul Olympic Park and COEX the biggest underground mall in Asia, which houses the Kimchi Museum and an aquarium, then relax in the serene 8th century Bongeunsa Temple or on a scenic cruise along the Han River. Finally, head to Common Ground for its lively atmosphere of cafés, shops, restaurants and pop-up exhibitions.
